Despair...an old friend

It is starting to feel like the first day all over again. Except the clouds never go away and instead of giant rocks getting thrown at me those giant reptiles are not giving me even a moment's rest. One, I can handle, easily. But three? Four?! Have you ever seen someone who was drawn and quartered before? It is not a sight you will soon forget and it almost felt like that was the intention of the beasts!

As I write this, I am in pain from their last assault. Two of the beasts ruined my attempt to tame one of the giant fined monsters and as I limped home to figure out my losses another snatched me from the back of Tyson. Wounded, weak and caught off guard I was no match and it was the sickening sound of bone breaking followed by the sharp snap of pain the world went black.

I thought that was it, that was the last of me...I would never see Ve again...never see our child. What cruel God is watching this and enjoying such suffering? I just want to be back with her. I would give anything to have her back, they could take anything that I have if I could just have her back.

As you can assume I did not die, for how would this letter be getting written? No, I did not die. I was awoken by the warm and raspy tongue of Tyson. The brave fool protected me, even though I saw more than a few ferocious beasts surround him before the world faded around me. Blood seeped from the wounds on his body and I realized then that he nearly died protecting me. If that happened not only would I have lost a trusted friend but my best way to get to Ve would be gone too. Tyson was strong and he surely wanted to be back with his mate as much as I wanted to be back with mine.

For the both of us, I had to be stronger. I had to be better.

Sorry, Tyson. You have to sit this one out.

I decided to take one of the creatures that had the plates on their back. When atop them I noticed those cursed reptiles could not get to me through the natural shield that was their plates. So, on the back of the big boi we set out. I needed to find something strong and fast, something that could get me across the land in a hurry. The more ground I could cover the sooner I could find Ve, I could not give up. I had to stay strong for her. It was...slow. Big Boi was made for soaking hits and not speed, which proved to be invaluable each time we got cornered somewhere. Battered but hardly deterred we made our way deeper into the humid area, my body aching from the wounds I suffered. Knowing I should rest but not able to do so, not when more time ticked by which meant she was going to be alone for longer.

Which meant it was closer to our baby being born.

Please, Ve. Do not give up...I am going to find you. I promise.

Walking seeming without direction, it was that voice that guided me closer and closer to those large trees. To the place where that thing had tried to snatch me before. Why would the voice tell me to go there? Did I miss something? I had little time to ponder this fact before I was snatched from the ground, having left the safety of Big Boi to give me aching body a break. Panic and terror, as the sticky substance wrapped around me and pulled me closer and closer, higher and higher. Vision blurred I had no idea what awaited me, but as I thought to struggle the voice spoke to me again.

Blood. It wants your blood. Feed it. Befriend it. It will be your legs.

At the time it made no sense, but I stopped struggling. Thinking back on it now that was probably a very dumb idea, but at the time it seemed like a good one. The closer I got to this...thing...ugh even thinking back on it now gives me chills. Feeling its fangs bite into my skin and start to feed from me. I think it was the thought that made me faint more than the pain, but when I came to this thing was staring at me.

Even now, as I write this, it and some of its friends are making these chittering sounds? This box is too small, maybe I should make something bigger? Ve will need room right? So will our baby.

Yes, I will make something better for us tomorrow and take one of these creatures on a scouting mission. I know I can find you, Ve. I know it. Just wait for me.
